MMB Brings Back Gold from Orlando

The Mighty Maroon Band competed in a national marching competition on April 21 in Orlando, Florida at the Heritage Festival Music Competition. Bands and choral groups from across the nation competed in the event. The Mighty Maroon Band received a Gold rating compiling the highest score of all the bands in the competition. They also earned the award for best instrumental group.

The trip wasn't all work. While on the road four days the band spent time touring Disney World, Advertureland, and Universal Studios. The band members financed the trip by selling cookie dough, flower bulbs, duffel bags, ... well you know what we sold. You're the ones that bought it all! Thanks to all of the generous folks who supported the band through your contributions and purchases. It looks like your investment paid off!

The Wytheville Town Council topped off the year by passing a resolution recognizing the band for recent accomplishments.
