Festival Photos: THEY'RE HERE AT LAST !!!
|
After much effort and consternation (I don't know if that's spelled right, but it sounds neat!) the individual sideline photos from the George Wythe Band Festival are now online and available for orders. Just click on the name of your favorite band on the left. Follow the "View individual Photos HERE" Link and stand back. Print an order form from the link below your band's name. Just in time for Christmas! |

The weather co-operated with us again this year. The rains stopped early enough on Friday to allow the field to dry for another great competition. The weather did almost throw a new wrinkle into the day's plans. The marching competition field is also occasionally used by the football team this time of year. The rain nearly postponed George Wythe's Friday night Homecoming game to Saturday afternoon (talk about the world's longest halftime show!), but the sun and mild winds made the field playable afterall.
What a great field of competitors! Fifteen bands spread evenly across the four classes kept everyone well entertained all evening long. Many of them had to wait to recover SAT participants before they could head out for the Festival. Blacksburg had to sqeeze us in between SATs and their Homecoming Dance. Sorry you had to miss the awards presentation, but the crowd filled in for your fans and cheered when you were announced. Thanks to all of the bands for choosing our Festival to share the fruits of your hard work.
Thanks also to the Wytheville Lifesaving Crew for being on hand to take care of the bumps, bruises, sprains, etc. and making the event more enjoyable by making it safer as well. Thanks to WYVE/WXBX for runnig a promo all week and for a live remote of the event, a Festival first. Thanks, too, to Lippo's Music Mart for stopping by and adding to the Festival atmosphere.
Over the next few weeks we'll be posting a photo page for each band. Each page will include photos from the press box and a link to Dennis Counts Photography where you will be able to order prints of action shots taken from the sidelines.
Did we do something you liked? Did we do something ... else? Please send your comments (good or bad, we can take it) to festival@gwhsband.org. We'll use your feedback to make our Festival even better next year.
Once again, thanks for all of your hard work, practicing, missed summer
vacations, etc. and Thanks for sharing it all with us today at the
24th Annual George Wythe Band Festival

Wytheville, Virginia is located in the beautiful mountains of southwestern
Virginia at the intersection of Interstate 81 and Interstate 77 North. That
makes it an easy drive for bands in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and
West Virginia as well as for area bands in Virginia.
Lynchburg, Roanoke, Charleston, Kingsport, and Charlotte are just a short trip away. The
leaves on the trees along the interstates should be nearing "Peak" in the second weekend
in October which will make the drive to and from the Festival that much more
enjoyable!
